The Code Blue Phone Kiosks serve the campus in the following three capacities:
- In the event of a University-wide emergency, the Code Blue Phone Kiosks across campus may be activated with flashing lights, which may also be accompanied by a voice message stating the type of emergency and indicating possible action. The voice message broadcast by the Code Blue Phone Kiosks is intended to be audible from a distance of 5 to 25 feet. Please note that if lights are flashing on one Code Blue Phone Kiosk on campus, this does not necessarily indicate a University-wide emergency.
- If you are in distress, you may use a Code Blue Phone Kiosk to contact the UConn 911 system directly. The lights on that particular kiosk will begin to flash once you have made contact with the 911 system. Each kiosk is equipped with a GPS locator, which will aid police officers in locating you.
- If you are located at one of the bus shelters on the main campus at Storrs and wish to request pick-up by the University's Husky Watch escort service, you may do so by pressing the button marked "Escort Service" on the Code Blue Phone Kiosk stationed in these locations. Husky Watch typically provides campus escorts daily during the academic year, from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and until 3 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
